Mini Grilled Cheese Hawaiian Rolls (Printable)

Buttery sweet rolls loaded with melted cheese, baked until golden and crispy

# What You Need:

→ Breads

01 - 1 package (12-count) Hawaiian sweet rolls

→ Cheeses

02 - 8 oz shredded mozzarella cheese
03 - 4 oz cheddar cheese, sliced or shredded

→ Spreads

04 - 4 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
05 - 1 tsp garlic powder

→ Toppings

06 - 2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped
07 - 2 tbsp grated Parmesan cheese

# Directions:

01 - Preheat oven to 350°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper for easy cleanup.
02 - Without separating the rolls, cut the entire block of Hawaiian rolls in half horizontally to create a top and bottom layer.
03 - Place the bottom half onto the prepared baking sheet. Evenly layer the mozzarella and cheddar cheeses over the bottom half of the rolls.
04 - Place the top half of the rolls over the cheese layer.
05 - In a small bowl, mix the melted butter with garlic powder. Brush the butter mixture liberally over the tops of the rolls.
06 - Sprinkle with chopped parsley and Parmesan cheese, if using.
07 - Bake for 12–15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and the tops are golden brown.
08 - Remove from oven. Let cool for 2 minutes, then separate into individual rolls using a sharp knife. Serve warm.

# Expert Tips:

01 -
  • Everything comes together in under 30 minutes with almost zero prep work
  • The sweet and savory combo hits that perfect comfort food craving every single time
  • You can make 12 mini sandwiches at once, which is basically a miracle for feeding a crowd
02 -
  • I learned the hard way that slicing individual rolls before baking creates a cheesy disaster—keep them connected until after they come out of the oven
  • The rolls will feel slightly soft immediately after baking but firm up during those crucial two minutes of cooling time
  • Using a serrated bread knife makes cutting through the horizontal roll block so much easier and prevents squishing the bread
03 -
  • Room temperature cheese melts more evenly and creates that perfect gooey texture we're all after
  • Using a pastry brush instead of a spoon helps the butter mixture soak into every crevice for maximum flavor distribution
