Red White Blue Ice Cubes (Printable)

Colorful layered ice cubes with blueberries, coconut and strawberries to brighten chilled beverages at gatherings.

# What You Need:

→ Fruit

01 - 1/2 cup fresh or frozen blueberries
02 - 1/2 cup strawberries, hulled and chopped
03 - 1/2 cup fresh coconut meat or unsweetened shredded coconut

→ Liquids

04 - 1 cup coconut water
05 - 1 cup natural blueberry juice
06 - 1 cup natural strawberry juice or cranberry juice

# Directions:

01 - Thoroughly wash blueberries and strawberries. Hull and finely chop the strawberries; set aside the fresh coconut meat or shredded coconut.
02 - Fill one-third of each ice cube tray compartment with blueberries and add enough blueberry juice to just submerge the fruit. Freeze for about 1 hour or until solid.
03 - Once blue layer is firm, place a layer of coconut meat or a sprinkle of shredded coconut over the frozen blueberries. Carefully pour in coconut water to fill the next third of each compartment. Freeze for another hour until set.
04 - Top each compartment with chopped strawberries. Fill to the top with strawberry juice or cranberry juice. Freeze until completely solid, approximately 2 more hours.
05 - Unmold the fully frozen, layered ice cubes and add to glasses of lemonade, sparkling water, or chilled cocktails for a festive presentation.

# Expert Tips:

01 -
  • Your drinks will look like something from a fancy summer party—no extra fuss needed.
  • It’s secretly a fun way to sneak more fruit into any celebration without anyone noticing.
02 -
  • If you rush the freezing between layers, you’ll end up with blended stripes instead of crisp colors.
  • I once used too much juice and found the cubes stuck stubbornly, so don’t overfill past the edge.
03 -
  • Run the back of the tray under cold water for a few seconds to release the cubes with ease.
  • For pure white coconut layers, avoid coconut milk with additives—it can tint the layer ivory.
